... is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope in overcoming things that hurt us.  We believe that as we look to a loving God for help, and put into practice those principles for living which He has given us in His Word, we will find both the strength and freedom we need to live productive and happy lives.  We strongly believe that our "higher power" is Jesus Christ.

We practice the suggested 12 step recovery program, because we believe these to be the practical application of the life changing principles which are so clearly set forth in the scriptures.

We welcome anyone who has a desire to rise above the pain and turmoil brought into their lives by the things that hurt us, anyone who is not opposed to our general method of recovery. We are here to share our experience, strength, and hope with one another. The loving support and genuine caring of fellow members, coupled with daily prayer and the reading of scripture, prepares us to experience total serenity in Christ, no matter what our outward circumstances might be

 

Overcomers FAQ:

When do you meet?
    - Wednesday at 7pm (First Presbyterian Church - Lewisville)

    - Friday at 6:30 (Central Fellowship - Decatur)

    - Saturday right after the service (Serenity Church)

 What happens at the meetings?
If you've ever attended a 12-step meeting, you will feel at home in an Overcomers meeting.  The format is the same.  The sharing is the same. The only differences are two - 1) We boldly claim that our higher power is Jesus Christ. 2) The people who attend our meetings aren't all seeking recovery from the same addiction.

   

Who attends? 
Overcomers is open to anyone who is hurting from things that are out of their control.  That means anyone suffering from an addiction, depression, difficult family situations...

 Do I have to speak?
No!  As at any 12-step meeting you are welcome to come, listen and share through other's experience, strength and hope.

Can I attend if I don't have an addiction?
Yes!  All are welcome.  We believe that at one time or another everyone suffers from things that hurt us that are out of our control.  Overcomers is meant to provide support and understanding for everyone.
